NCAPA Annual Awards

In November of every year, at the Annual Meeting of the Members and Dinner, NCAPA recognizes the outstanding achievements of its members, sponsors, and supporters. As a not-for-profit, member-driver association, NCAPA volunteers, sponsors ,and supporters are the life-blood of our organization.

The Annual Award categories and qualifications are listed below. The nominees and winners for 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 are listed on separate pages, as are the recipients of NCAPA's President's List Award.

President's List

Qualifications:  NCAPA Members who contribute fifteen hours or more by attending NCAPA events and seminars or providing volunteer service to the association are named to the President's List.

Student of the Year

Qualifications:  Student member in good standing of NCAPA who demonstrates a quest for knowledge and makes a contribution to the paralegal profession through their active participation in this association and the community.

New Member of the Year

Qualifications:  Member in good standing of NCAPA for two years or less who has actively participated in events, networks, and committees, and demonstrated a desire to become an association leader or taken on a leadership role within the association.

Member of the Year

Qualifications:  Member in good standing of NCAPA who makes a significant contribution to the association through their participation in events, networks, and committees, and promotes the paralegal profession.

Chair of the Year

Qualifications:  NCAPA member who has held the position of Chair or Co-Chair of a Committee or Network.

Pro Bono Service Award

Qualifications:  Member in good standing of NCAPA who promotes pro bono activities and exceeds the minimum requirement of 24 hours of service per year encouraged by NFPA.

Leadership Award

Qualifications:  NCAPA Member who holds a leadership position within the association (member of the Board, a Committee, or a Network Chair) who demonstratives exceptional personal and professional integrity, and devotes tireless hours to promoting the mission of the association and the paralegal profession. Nominees may not hold the office of President or President-Elect within the association.

Paralegal Program Excellence Award

Qualifications:  Paralegal Program within the Washington, DC, metro area that supports and encourages membership and participation in NCAPA and its seminars and events.

New Sponsor of the Year

Qualifications:  First-time sponsor who has contributed to NCAPA through in-kind or monetary sponsorships of events, seminars, and/or the administrative operations of the association.

Outstanding Local Sponsor of the Year

Qualifications:  Sponsor whose business is limited to the Washington, DC, metro area and who has contributed to NCAPA through in-kind or monetary sponsorships of events, seminars, and/or the administrative operations of the association.

Outstanding National Sponsor of the Year

Qualifications:  Sponsor whose business is nation-wide and who has contributed to NCAPA through in-kind or monetary sponsorships of events, seminars, and/or the administrative operations of the association.

Legacy Sponsor

Qualifications:  Sponsor who has contributed to NCAPA through in-kind or monetary sponsorships of events, seminars, and/or the administrative operations of the association for more than two consecutive years.

Special Awards

NCAPA has special awards which are presented to individuals, firms, or companies who have contributed to and supported the association. These awards are not necessarily presented annually, and are at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Included in this category are the Distinguished Service Award, and the Diamond Benefactor Award.
